I have repeatedly used these two books as inspiration to junior high students who had given up on ever learning to read. The books are humorous enough to create desire to learn to read. As a matter of fact, two sets of the three that I ordered are going to former students who have inquired of me where they might find the books for themselves. Won't they be surprised!
I have also read these books to an old lady in a nursing home who got her weekly laugh. her children told me that she hung on much longer because of looking forward to the next installment of Caleb. Another women with a terminal illness appreciated the Caleb stories for their laughter value. Proverbs says, "a merry heart doeth one good like a medicine" and I have found that to be true.
