Entry for April 16, 2008

As an elementary school age child in the late 1960's in west
Texas
, I read the first Me and Caleb book. It stuck in my memory, and
as an adult in my 30's, I got the book thru an interlibrary loan to
read aloud to my children. It remained a favorite of mine. I later had
more children, and wanted to read it again, but was unable to get it.
I checked online, and found that it was out of print, but a copy could
be purchased for $650+. This was a little out of my budget.... but I
never forgot it. Recently I was looking on Amazon for some other book,
and on a whim, looked up Me and Caleb. I was delighted to find it, and
ordered it, and the sequel. Now at age 50, I have read it to my 7, 9,
and 14 year old kids, the oldest of whom is named Caleb. Of course he
is too cool to admit it, but he loved it as much as the little girls,
if not more. I would love to be able to purchase more of these
stories. Thanks so much for such delightful books. You can be sure I will
recommend them for purchase by my local libraries.
